Calvary Cares

What is Calvary Cares?
What is Calvary Cares?

Calvary Cares is a way for our church to collectively express God’s love to the world. We are called by Jesus to be characterized by our love as his disciples (John 13:35). It is for this reason that we strive to have the heart of a servant and of generosity as we give and serve outside the walls of our church.

The Values of Calvary Cares

Loving the Least
(Matt. 25:40)

Reaching the Next
(Matt. 19:14)

Equipping the Poor
(Psalm 82:3-4)

Establishing the Church
(Matt. 16:18)

Care Partners

Our Care Partners represent us throughout the world as they proclaim the Gospel and serve those in need. Our care for our missionaries is both financial and practical. We support over 50 Care Partners on a monthly basis. Our kids each year also pick a specific Care Partner to bless in addition to our all-church support.

Calvary Cares Projects (2024 Projects)

We partner with other organizations with the purpose of financially supporting them in the pursuit of their mission to make a difference in our world.

Rescue 8 (NHT EMS Services)

$15,000

North Huntingdon EMS/Rescue is a home away from home for all of its employees. They provide a fixed schedule of 2, 24 hour shifts per week. Our project is to improve living quarters and work areas. The renovations to the facility include a kitchen dining table and chairs to provide adequate space for everyone, day rooms updated with new furniture such as couches, end tables, upgrading their computer area space to be more efficient. Also, we’ll be upgrading their supervisors’ offices with new desks and chairs.

Project 15642

$15,000

Through this project we will be coming alongside three local churches located in the 15642 zip code to support their outreach efforts over the course of this year with $5,000 going toward each church. Our hope in doing so is to help build the Kingdom of God, not just one church. Our focus will be to purchase items and equipment that can be used in future years and allow each church to reach more people with the gospel. Throughout the year we won’t be sharing the names of these churches but instead will simply be referencing them as Church A, Church B, and Church C.

Ukraine Project

$15,000

In 2023, the Diocese of Greensburg launched an initiative to help refugees from war-torn Ukraine by offering some of them the opportunity to settle in Westmoreland County. Their goal is to help at least 5 families each year relocate to this area. In 2024, we will be partnering with them to help bring 3 families from Ukraine to Westmoreland County. This will include helping them identify housing, employment and the resources needed to make this area home.

Genesis Table Project (Jeannette)

$10,000

Mosaic Community Church is a cross-cultural church plant located in the heart of Jeannette. Each week they provide various programs that serve those in need in their community. This next year they are beginning a project that would allow them to start a Farm to Table Cafe called “Genesis Table.” This project will help train youth with job and managerial skills, as well as a place where produce will be grown by younger children at their afterschool program in their urban gardens. This update will additionally allow them to serve brunch on Sunday mornings, serve more nutritious foods to the over 70 kids in their weekly Kids and Youth Club Programs, as well as provide dinner at their after-school program that takes place 4 days a week.

Family Room at Westmoreland County Courthouse

$10,000

This year we will be updating the Family Visitation Area at the Westmoreland County Courthouse. This space is used by foster families and children when they have an appointment or case at the Westmoreland County Courthouse. Through this project we are hoping to continue to provide safe, welcoming spaces for families to discover or rediscover health. Through traumatic times, we pray these updated spaces will be a place of healing and restoration in the midst of trying seasons.

Kenya ESL School

$20,000

This year we will be continuing our work in Africa with a project partnering with a Development Center in Nairobi, Kenya called Iftiin, which is the word “Hope” in Samali. Iftiin’s mission is to reach every Somali in the Eastleigh neighborhood with the gospel through an ESL school, an elementary school, and a medical clinic. This year we will be helping them update their facilities to better reach and serve thousands of Somalis in the region.
